Gardener in Training

Today I spent time weeding in the garden with my parents. Actually, they did most of the weeding while I crawled around eating dandelion leaves and dirt. At one point, as my mom was watering the plants, I decided to go and play with the water and got very muddy. I kept putting the mud in my mouth even though I didn't really like it.

Injera!

Today my parents took me to an Ethiopian restaurant. I had a lot of fun eating the flat bread (injera) with all the stews. I especially liked smiling at other customers and the owner. We then went grocery shopping where I got to smile at more people. Lots of shoppers came by to tell me how cute I am.

Chatterbox!

I am very chatty. Here are some new words I am saying: "bagel", "kitty", "cracker", "shake shake", "waffle", "thank you", "xie xie" (thank you in Chinese), and "baby". I also am using the sign for bird. Actually, what I do is when I see a bird, I start flapping my arms like I am flying while saying, "Ah! Ah!" like a crow or seagull. Some other new signs I have are for blanket, puppy, cat, and fish. I am still working on the sign for potty.

O Canada!

This weekend my parents took me to Vancouver for the first time. Here are some things I did:

1. Ate lots of dim sum
2. Shopped at Aberdeen Shopping Centre in Richmond. Everything my parents bought was for me. I am very spoiled... but in a good way.
3. Found out I love lamb kleftiko, a delicious dish at my parents' favorite Greek restaurant
4. Rode on a small ferry boat and got lots of attention from other passengers
5. Smiled at lots of people at the Granville Island Public Market
6. Ate lots of Polish cabbage roll

My parents told me I was a very good traveler.

The pictures show me eating lots of lamb, riding on the aquabus, and dancing to ukulele music with my dad at Granville Island. Notice my Austin Power shoes!

Baby Genius!

I spent today amazing my parents with my new skills. First, while I was playing downstairs, my dad put one of my toys halfway up the stairs (mean daddy!). I climbed up the stairs to get the toy, threw it down the stairs, and climbed down again, all by myself! Then, I was crawling around and I saw my lunch bag, and even though it was empty I looked at my dad, made the sign for "eat", and started smacking my lips! And finally, I saw our kitty eating her dinner, and then I made the sign for "cat" and then the sign for "eat"!! I wasn't hungry – I was just telling my parents that the kitty was eating dinner! Tomorrow I think I'll write a novel.

Beans!

I am starting to eat more again and have found another one of my favorite foods (besides rice and noodles) – black beans! Here is a picture of me with a 5 o'clock black bean shadow. Notice how I have beans in my hair! Yummy!

Baaaaaa!

Yesterday I made lots of animal noises with my mom while reading a farm book. I can now say "baaaaa!" for a sheep and snort like a pig and say "naaaay!" for a horse. I also have approximate signs for these animals as well as for ducks, cows, and frogs. On top of that, I said "kitty" when the cat came in, and then today I said the Chinese word for cat! I am going to be very chatty soon!

Twinkle Twinkle

Here is a cute picture of me in the garden with aunt Nora.

I love music! I now can sing twinkle twinkle little star with my mom. I like opening and closing my hands to make the stars twinkle and I can sing along. Even though I don't know the words, I've got the rhythm down.

Whew!

I am finally recovered from my flu and have been bouncing around like my normal self again. On Saturday, I went to Pike Place Market with my mom and her long-time friend, Rachel, who was visiting us from Houston. We then walked around the new Olympic Sculpture Park, which was fun. I liked picking up the rocks by the beach and stuffing them in my mouth!

On Sunday, we had dim sum. I ate a lot.

Nothing happened on Monday, except that I started making farm animal sounds with my mom when we were reading a farm book.

Today my mom took me to a mom and baby music class. I liked banging on the drums and watching the teacher play her guitar. There were lots of new friends to smile at today.

Achooo!

I have been sick as a dog. I've had a fever for days now and have not been sleeping very well and have not felt like eating at all. This means my parents have not been sleeping very well either. I kind of just lie in bed moaning because I have the flu. My parents are moaning too because I passed the bug to them and not only do they have to take care of themselves while they're sick, they also have to take care of me. We are the flu family. Achoo!

My April Fools Jokes!

Last year this time, I played a joke on my parents. I decided to come out of the womb five weeks earlier than they had anticipated. Exactly one year later, I decided to play another joke. Just as my parents were getting ready for my first birthday party, I spiked a fever. Many of my friends decided not to come to the party so they wouldn't get sick. Instead of being my usual happy party girl self, I was pretty quiet and just wanted my mom to hold me. It was not the party my parents had expected just as a year ago, it was not the birth that my parents had anticipated. I am very sneaky!
