Shrimp!

I am constantly singing and making up words to different tunes. One of my favorite is "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." During dinner today I made up this song in Chinese to my favorite tune:

"Shrimp, shrimp, shrimp, shrimp
Shrimp, shrimp, shrimp, for me."

In Chinese it sounds like this:

"xiazi, xiazi, xiazi, xiazi
xiazi, xiazi, xiazi, gei wo."

Ju Ming Museum

Yesterday, we went to an outdoor sculpture museum on the North coast of Taiwan. I got to run around all over the museum, draw on the walkway with chalk, run through the water fountain, even climb on to some of the sculptures. On the way there, we saw many beaches, a rock arch, and lots of surfers. This is a very beautiful part of Taiwan.

The Little Match Girl

Yesterday while reading "The Little Match Girl" to myself, I decided to act it out and turn it into a one-woman show. I first played the Little Match Girl and pretended to cry while saying, "I want my mommy" in Chinese. Then I pretended to be the mom saying to the Little Match Girl, "Don't cry! It's ok!"

LIttle Mozart

This morning, while lying in bed with my parents, I decided to "play" my dad's arm like a musical instrument. I then hummed a song I made up while "playing" his arm and clapped for myself when the song ended.

Big Girl Bed!

Today I got a big girl bed! I had been sleeping on a futon on the floor for the past few months since moving to Taiwan but my parents thought it was time I graduated to the BIG GIRL BED! It was really exciting! All I wanted to do was to play "sleeping" and "wake up" with my dad today.

to the tune of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."

Happy Birthday Jayden!

Yesterday we went to a birthday party for my friend Jayden. He turned 1! I kept singing, "Happy Birthday Jayden" on the bus on the way to his house. The first picture is Jayden on top of his sister on a ball, and the third is the cupcake I "decorated". There were lots of friends to play with, and lots of attention from Ahmas and aunties and uncles.

Sushi

On Saturday, We went to a sushi party at a friend's house. I really loved stuffing my mouth full of rice and seaweed.

Cheeks!

I have giant kissable cheeks that my mom loves to kiss and squeeze. Yesterday, my mom asked me, "Anja, where are your cheeks?" I squeezed my cheeks together the way she sometimes does and said in Chinese, "Right here!"

Happy Easter!

OK, Easter was actually a while ago but we didn't celebrate it until today. The City Playgroup planned an Easter Egg Hunt but it had to be postponed on Easter due to rain. It rained again the next week so the event got pushed back to today. Luckily the weather was very nice today so we all went to Sinsheng Park and walked through the flower maze to get treats, then hung out with some new friends.

Earlier in the day, we went to a children's book store where my mom read stories for kids during Story Time. We read some of my favorites: Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and sang "Itsy Bitsy Spider"

After the park, we went to have Dim Sum with my mom's cousin and her family. It was the first time we had dim sum in Taiwan and it was really good!

Little Kitty

Yesterday my parents rescued a little kitten. He was in the cold, getting rained on, and meowing for hours for his mom. My mom took him to the vet to get some worm medicine and flea medicine and he also got a bath. He was only about 30 days old. I liked holding him in my hands and feeding him. He even slept in the bed with us last night. We put his pictures up on the internet to get him adopted and today he found a new home! I am going to miss him.
