Happy Moon Festival!
Today is a holiday called the Moon Festival. It falls on the 15th day of the 9th lunar month, when the moon is at its fullest. This is a day when families get together to eat moon cakes, pomelos, barbeque, and admire the moon. Unfortunately, Taiwan has been hit by a category 3 typhoon with winds of 117 mph and dumping over 500 mm of rain in Taipei. This is the most impressive storm we've seen since moving here. It is even bigger than hurricane Ike, which is front page news in the U.S. We've been holed up in the house all day watching the rain come down in sheets and seeing the wind blow a piece of our neighbor's metal roofing off. It has been quite exciting but we are ready for the storm to leave so we can go outside and play again.

August
The month of August was a busy month because I went to Seattle, then L.A., then back to Taiwan and then we moved to a new apartment building. The first picture is me with my friend Emma, the second is of camping on Puget Sound, and the third is us with my great aunt and uncle in L.A. We enjoyed our trip and are now gearing up to go to Australia in a few weeks.
